A large proportion of my clients are brought to me specifically by breeders. Black market breeding, impure pedigrees, lack of documents, and most commonly, terrible puppy rearing conditions are not about how great (or not) the dog you choose might be, but about its development, nervous system condition, experience (which shapes behavior), and health.
Will the dog be brave? Aggressive? Affectionate? Timid? Sociable? Prone to illness? Hyperactive or reactive? These and other aspects can be determined at the moment of choosing a puppy, and we all know that it is easier to prevent problems than to fix them.

REAL CASE
On May 14th, clients contacted me to find a Pomeranian Spitz puppy with breed class potential. In addition to full compliance with breed standards and confidence in health (including genetic tests, dental condition, puppy size), the clients had a clear idea of the appearance: "bear" type (round eyes, shorter nose, strong bone structure), cream color, female only, and a limited budget.
